Youth in Action: How YSEM is Shaping the Future of E-Mobility in Africa

The Genesis of YSEM

Founded on the belief that young people hold the key to a sustainable future, YSEM has become a platform for youth across Africa to engage, collaborate and lead in the energy sector. What started as an idea at the sidelines of COP 28 from a small group of like-minded individuals has blossomed into a powerful movement, connecting students, professionals and thought leaders who are committed to driving change.

Empowering Youth through Action

YSEM’s approach is grounded in action-oriented strategies. The organization empowers young people by providing them with the knowledge, skills and opportunities needed to make a tangible impact. Through workshops, conferences and collaborations with industry leaders, YSEM members are not just learning about e-mobility; they are actively contributing to its development.

Among YSEM’s key initiatives is the recently concluded E-mobility Training workshop held on June 4th at BasiGo Premises with the support of Res4Africa Foundation, that saw 44 participants successfully trained on finance models, policy insights and hands on practical approach of Electric Vehicles. Additionally, YSEM in partnership with AfeMA is hosting the upcoming Youth Summit at Africa E-mobility Week. Scheduled for 17th September at Sarit Expo Center, this event will bring together students, professionals and industry experts to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in the e-mobility sector. The summit is a testament to YSEM’s commitment to fostering dialogue and action among young people who are passionate about sustainability.

Bridging the Gap between Youth and Industry
